Visa Information
In order for a student to study in Albania, a Student Visa is needed, which is only issued by the Albania Immigration Department.Based on law 108/2013 “For foreigners”, the application for a visa from a foreigner is made no more than 90 days before the scheduled date of arrival in the Republic of Albania, at a diplomatic and / or consular post of the Republic of Albania abroad. An important fact is that the countries of the European Union are exempt from this visa. Students must apply for a type “D” visa, which is issued to foreign nationals who seek to stay in the Republic of Albania for more than 90 days for 180 days. This visa is issued with a validity of one year, residence time 90 days, with one, two or more entrances and exits, which entitles the holder to apply to obtain a residence permit after entering the Republic of Albania.
Visa for tourism (C)
Type “C” visa, gives the holder the right to enter and stay in the Republic of Albania for 90 days within 180 days starting from the date of first entry. This type of visa is mostly used for tourism purposes.
Visa for study purposes (D)
Type “D” visa, is issued to an alien intending to reside in the Republic of Albania more than 90 days within 180 days and if visa is required for these aliens in order for them to be provided with residence permit. It is valid for one year, with a validity period of stay of 90 days. This type of visa is divided into several different categories based on the purpose of entering the Albanian territory, such as, study purposes, employment purposes, family reunification, seasonal employment purposes and more.
The responsible authority for issuing visas is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The visa application process is based on the type of visa to be obtained.
Type “D” visas are divided depending on the purpose of entry, student visa is that of type D / ST.
These steps must be followed to apply visa in Albania:

The application form must be completed.

Submit the completed application form to the Immigration Department at least 3 months before the start of the course.

All the application forms must be tested by the Ministry of Education and it must be signed by the concerned College or University.
In order for a Student Visa application to be accepted these documents will need to be submitted:

Document certifying the registration / admission to an educational institution in Albania.

Documents that prove and certify the coverage of all living costs and tuition fees.

Travel health insurance document for the duration of the visa.

Document that provide proof of accommodation while in the Republic of Albania.

Criminal Record (Good Character) Document, legalized according to the regime with the relevant country which has issued this document.
If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs authorizes the visa, you can then apply at one of the Embassies or Consulates near you by submitting the following documents:

Proof of authorization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (eg. Visa Authorization Number)

Your Birth Certificate

Your high school diploma or other previous academic qualifications

A medical report issued by a certified medical practitioner which states you are not infected with any contagious diseases. The report must have been issued within the last three months.
